Installing Ampll for Slack

Note: the version of Ampll for Slack is for private use by Ampll Early Access users. This page will be updated once the latest version of Ampll for Slack is approved for listing in the Slack App Directory.

Overview

Ampll for Slack extends your Ampll experience to the Slack environment. Features include:

  • automatic update of your Slack status with your presence as detected by Ampll
  • detection of Slack public channel usage when away from a desktop computer with Ampll installed
  • the ability to control status updates to other Ampll and Slack users
  • manual setting of presence

There are two options for installing Ampll for Slack.

  1. (Recommended) Download and install Ampll for Mac or Windows first and add Ampll for Slack. Note that the text below shows what the instructions will be after the Early Access period, as well as during the Early Access period.
  2. Install Ampll for Slack first and then add Ampll for Slack to a subsequent Ampll desktop installation.

Option 1 - Installing Ampll First (Recommended)

Note that these instructions only apply AFTER the Early Access Period and the latest version of Ampll for Slack is is approved for listing in the Slack App Directory.  During the early access period, please skip to the section below titled "Option 1 (During Early Access Period)".

To install Ampll for Mac or Windows and add Slack as a Cloud App:

  • When prompted with the Connect for Slack card, click Connect.

  • On the following screen, click Sign in with Slack.

  • Once your web browser launches, choose the appropriate Slack workspace to connect to using the drop down in the upper right. Choose Add another workspace if you do not see the desired workspace in the dropdown list.

  • From your web browser window, accept the prompt to return to Ampll.

  • Ampll then presents a confirmation of your connected Slack account. Click Done or Connect another workspace.

Option 1 (During Early Access Period)

Access Preferences using the "..." menu
  • Choose the Cloud apps menu
  • The top area in green is for Personal accounts and the bottom area in blue is for Work accounts.  In the appropriate section, click the appropriate Add Account to... button. Note that if you want to add permissions to an existing account you can simply "add" the same account again to the appropriate group.
  • Choose Sign in with Slack

  • Once your web browser launches, choose the appropriate Slack workspace to connect to using the drop down in the upper right. Choose Add another workspace if you do not see the desired workspace in the dropdown list.

  • From your web browser window, accept the prompt to return to Ampll.

  • Your Slack workspace then appears in your list of connected accounts.

Option 2 - Installing from Slack App Directory

To install from Slack first:

  • Click the Sign in with Slack button below.
  • In your web browser, choose the appropriate Slack workspace to connect to using the drop down in the upper right. Choose Add another workspace if you do not see the desired workspace in the dropdown list.

  • From the Ampll Mini Panel, use the "..." menu to access Preferences.
